Capacity Development For Future Builders

Abstract

In Yeni Nesil, we are developing a number of different layers of teaching and training action items for more effective and long-lasting climate adaptation and mitigation plans in Turkey, particularly in Çekmeköy Region of İstanbul.  We are producing a module in line with MEGEP System of Ministry of Education, which will be introduced to trainers within the project timeline.  These trainers will be able to train, later, a large number of students at the vocational high schools.  We are also producing a guideline about the public buildings that need major renovation.

The main objectives of Yeni Nesil are to train and guide the trainers and teachers, to guide the contraction sector and the municipalities on the following areas:

  1. Energy Efficiency Literacy: Yeni Nesil offers raising awareness on low energy buildings, targeting a large range of citizens from different age groups and different professional background.
  2. Energy Efficiency Infrastructure: Yeni Nesil includes detailed monitoring and studying of energy performance of Taşdelen IMKB Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi (1,301 students), Nesrin Uçmaklıoğlu Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi (598 students) and Hüseyin Avni Sipahi Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi (497 students). The data collected from these activities have been compared with the data collected previously in two faculty buildings within Özyeğin University Campus.
  3. Energy Efficiency Impact: The guidelines prepared for the Governor of Istanbul and Çekmeköy Municipality have the intention of affecting the works on setting standards and parameters of zoning legislation and upgrading daily construction habits. The positive effect on zoning plans will be very shortly recognized by the other municipalities through networks and sharing common interests. The trainers of the vocational schools will be training the 2,396 technical students in the schools, who very soon will be professionals in the sector, pioneering energy efficiency practice in their works.
