Abstract

Renewable energy will play an increasingly important role in the future. Utilization of renewable energy sources and the application of environmentally sound energy technologies are essential to sustainable development and will help to secure the quality of living and the well-being of the future generations. Media – electronic, print & exhibition as well as outdoor media – play vital role in disseminating information on new and renewable sources of energy (NRSE) systems/devices and thereby popularizing and creating awareness about such systems and devices. Therefore, it is extremely important for the media to provide accurate, impartial and open information.

Biographical Sketch

Sabiha Kötek was educated at Istanbul University and studied Political Sciences. She is the official news director of Enerji Günlüğü, an independent website that publishes daily energy news from Turkey and the world. She also columnist for the site. She covers a wide range of topics — including renewable energy, climate change, environment — in her column. She also writes article about energy at different monthly and bimonthly magazines.
