MURAT ONUK

Biography

Dr. Murat Onuk was born in 1969. After receiving his Master of Engineering Degree in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute he returned to Turkey in 1992 and started to work in private sector for the electrification of iron-steel, coal, casting, glass industries, power transmission and distribution and power generation where he worked for more than 25 years at various positions.  His major specialization area is renewable power generation concentrating in wind power energy. In parallel with his business life, Dr. Onuk continued his academic studies and received his PhD in Business Administration in 2009. Since January 2016, Dr. Onuk is working in Yeditepe University Faculty of Economical and Administrative Sciences, Business Administration Department as an Assistant Professor. His concentration area is management and organization where he lectures Introduction to Business, Organization Theory and Design, Change Management, Conflict Management, and Strategic Managemenet at undergraduate level, Business Policy & Strategic Management, Strategy Simulation Game, International Business, Energy Management and Energy Markets and Trade courses at MBA level.

With his wife and twin daughters, Dr. Onuk lives in Istanbul since 1986. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Onuk works as a free-lance consultant in power generation from renewable resources, instructs Classical Raja Yoga, and provides coaching services for management, team building and holistic life development. Dr. Onuk is also a certified teacher, designer and consultant for Permaculture (an ethics based holistic design science for sustainable human settlements). Since May 2016, he is the General Secretary of Turkish Renewable Energy Association (Eurosolar – Turkey).
