New Developments in Renewable Hydrogen Production

Abstract

Due to global issues, ranging from energy to the environment and from economy to sustainable development, it is now a critical requirement to develop carbon-free solutions which primarily dwell on hydrogen energy solutions and their efficient and effective deployment in all economic sectors, ranging from transportation to power generation. It is important to know that hydrogen production processes need energy sources for electricity, heat or light and that using fossil fuels for such needs to produce hydrogen either from hydrocarbon fuels or water does not bring much reduction in the environmental impact. The ultimate target essentially becomes renewables. In this regard, we need to develop right energy solutions to better couple renewable energy sources and hydrogen production methods. In this keynote presentation, the primary focus will be on local and global hydrogen initiatives, research, development, innovational and technological developments, new methods and processes in hydrogen energy systems and infrastructural requirements, performance assessments and improvements, deployment opportunities, and integrated systems coupling both renewables and hydrogen production systems. It will also discuss the future directions in renewable hydrogen production and potential opportunities in offsetting the intermittent nature of renewables.
