New Perspectives in Solar Fuels

Abstract

It is important to diversify the energy portfolio by including renewable fuels, primarily solar fuels, such as hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and ethanol.  These fuels can cleanly be produced by using solar energy in thermal or/and electrical forms as to be supplying the necessary energy inputs to synthetically achieve the fuel synthesis. This presentation will introduce new methods and technologies for production of solar fuels, discuss the key parameters and criteria for the processes, evaluate their performances through energy and exergy efficiencies, and develop integrated systems for multigeneration.
