Abstract

Global renewables outlook 2020 and stimulus packages for energy transition. IRENA has assessed the potential for energy transition in the coming decades to meet the Paris climate objectives. For the first time deep decarbonization perspectives were assessed for all sectors. Energy efficiency, renewable energy and electrification play a key role in this transition. Also the investment priorities for the coming years have been assessed and the socio-economic benefits that can be generated. This new analysis provides important insights that can guide decisions how to structure stimulus investment packages.
