Present developments and potential of biomass to energy in Australia

Abstract

Australia, while having massive amounts of economically biomass and municipal waste streams has until recently seen very little coherent development. This is now changing, and for businesses producing significant biomass residues, and at local government level real change is happening. This is also the case in at least two of the six states. It is hoped that the government of the other states and of the country will follow. This may all be stimulated that for the first time some significant funding (over AUS $200 million) has been allocated specifically to stimulate bioenergy.
