Renewable Energy Modelling in Izmir By Using Answer-Time Programme

Abstract

Energy demand is determined by looking at the natural resources in a city, its geopolitical location and production capacity. Therefore, since the characteristics of each city will be different, energy demands, energy resources and energy production-consumption capacity are different. Izmir is an industrially developed city and meets its income from the industrial facilities in the city. As in other cities in the region, agriculture is carried out in Izmir. Electricity generation in Izmir is met by wind energy, solar energy, energy of bio waste, natural gas and coal. However, agriculture sector is not at a very high level like industry and electricity generation. This paper analyze, demands, future needs and results of energy carriers and technologies according to Turkey’s growth rate for electric generation in Izmir located in west of Turkey to shows their technical uses in energy modeling and analysis. The current energy resources and renewable energy and electricity generation of Izmir province were analyzed and the Izmir-TIMES model was created in order to predict the economic results of renewable energy and the amount to meet the needs in the 2018-2033 period.
