Reflections of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals on the Sustainability and Climate Change Course Curriculum
Abstract
Climate change is increasingly attracting global attention as a critical and urgent issue. As in many other sectors, educational institutions have begun to shape their academic programs around this topic. This research aims to examine the Sustainability and Climate Change Course Curriculum (SCC) offered by Turkish universities affiliated with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), in relation to the United Nations (UN) 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The study investigates the extent to which the content of climate change courses supports the 17 SDG targets by reviewing course materials and descriptions available on university websites. The findings suggest that both the United Nations SDG framework and the European Union’s climate change missions can be implemented more effectively through enhanced integration into university curricula.
